Sherry Youth Chamber Orchestra Volunteers entertain at King’s CollegeHospital

ree

Monday October 27 marked two important steps forward for Sherry

Music Academy! One of our major goals as a charity is to “relieve the

needs of people who are sick, convalescent, disabled or infirm by

providing comfort in the form of outreach musical entertainment”. On

that day, King’s College Hospital Fetal Medicine Unit kindly opened their

doors to give us our first opportunity. The Sherry Youth Chamber

Orchestra volunteers filled the bright facility with a selection of popular

classics and modern hits, entertaining the new and expectant mothers,

their carers and visitors.

This important day also marked the debut of the Sherry Music Academy

Volunteering Programme, which gives our community-minded young

musicians a chance to repay society for their good fortune, while

boosting their skills, personal growth, and scholastic credentials. Reports

will be submitted to the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme for the

credit of the members who took part.
