In July 2026 Sherry Music Academy held its first international concert tour, taking in three cities in Northern Italy. The first performance was a glittering soiree at Sporting Club Monza, overlooking the internationally famous car racing track. Next was an appearance at the ultra modern Teatro Le Muse in Brescia, an ancient city with its unique twin cathedrals. Our Summer Gala Concert was held at the Royal Academy of Music Duke’s Hall on July 5th, marking the high point of our 2025-2026 yearly programme. The Repertoire included Handel, Vivaldi, Peter Warlock and Benjamin Britten, and was rapturously received by a large audience. We all look forward to next year’s event which will take place on July 4th 2027, again at this magnificent venue. On June 14th our Volunteers gave a recital for the residents and staff of St. Vincent’s House Care Home. Ten of our outstanding young musicians aged from 6 to 16 years played their solo pieces one by one, much to the delight of the elders in the audience. On May 29th the Volunteer Chamber Orchestra performed a concert at KYN, an exclusive care home with a beautiful performance venue. The sophisticated audience were highly appreciative, engaging enthusiastically with our young musicians by whose presence they were evidently charmed, thus demonstrating the power of the Mozart Effect and the comfort and joy of music. On May 31st the Volunteer Chamber Orchestra gave a concert at Farm Lane Care Home, which was gratefully received by the residents who attended in numbers despite their infirmities. Our young members benefited greatly from interacting with a generation not normally encountered in their everyday lives. and the care home staff managed by Devon made us all very welcome. Sherry Music Academy once again celebrated the Lunar New Year with the 2026 dumpling-making and concert event at SEACC on (date). The doors were open for the public to sample and even try their hand at making traditional Chinese dumplings, a bridge to cultural understanding that all could enjoy. On November 19 th , Sherry Music Academy held a workshop at Sir John Lillie Primary School. Pupils were introduced to the “Three Italian Sisters” - violin, viola and cello. After learning something about the instruments, the school was treated to individual and ensemble musical performances. The 2025 Sherry Music Academy Summer Camp was held this August at Wycombe Abbey School, and a great time of music learning and holiday fun was had by all.
