We Are a Charity!

London, June 3, 2025: Sherry Music Academy announces its formal recognition as UK Registered Charity number 1213504, focus ed on making the power of music available to a wider community.

Operating as a non-profit since 2023, the Academy has already created the highly successful Sands End Sunday Jazz Cafe, a springboard for young jazz professionals which already has produced international performers and recording artists, as well as building a new community of jazz enthusiasts. An annual youth chamber orchestra program is in planning, as well as a certified volunteering scheme, and the new full charity status will enable the Academy to put more projects into action, and get more people involved, while maintaining its commitment to outstanding musical quality.

“Music has a unique power to enhance human wellbeing, accelerate learning, or soothe pain and loneliness,” says Sherry Shen, Founder and Musical Director of Sherry Music Academy. “We call it the Mozart Effect. Our mission is to build a community of young musicians who can make the Mozart Effect available to more people, providing better quality entertainment free to the public, supporting education in schools where state provision is limited, and bringing life-enhancing musical experiences to the elderly and sick who otherwise lack access.”
